Another sad barn

I have still another sad old barn for Barn Charm this week; I've decided to post a photo I took last summer as well as one I took two weeks ago.  This structure is definitely on its 'last legs.'

The group that puts on our town's annual rodeo also carries out an annual "robbery" of the excursion train.  It's great fun for the Stampeders and for the sightseers on the train.  Following last summer's train robbery, we gathered all the participants in front of the old Lookingglass barn for a photo.

Hiya,

That barn is wondrous, especially in its last throes...
Brave person to stand up that high on the rickety structure :-)
I thought it was a composite photo at first, with the horses and all.
BTW: You've got mail!!

Ohhh that sounds like so much fun & an incredible idea for a photo of everyone in front of that poor old barn! It's fantastic & I love it!!! =) Thanks so much for showing it this week!

I'm very sorry about McKLinky this week, they must be having problems w/ it, but I got you linked up & you're ready to go!!! =)

I like both shots...it is just too bad that so many of the barns are falling down. I know it would be expensive to save them. I tell my husband that it won't be that many years till wooden barns are a thing of the past...that is one reason I try to photograph all I can.

Now it's just defying gravity for sheer spite.

That first photo is amazing. Barns do not typically split apart in that fashion. It had to be a horrendous wind to topple it that way.

Last year we had a Steam Train come thorugh town and the promoters thought a train robbery would be a "fun" event. Actually they staged train robbers to also hold up a local store. Throngs of crowds many times towns normal population filled the streets and gave the robbers less room to work. One ended up shooting his partner. Birdshot. I don't think this show will be repeated.

I think I would be nervous if I was that cowboy standing on that barn in the second photo. He such is one brave cowboy!

This barn is so gorgeous, so much character, I will never look at dilapidated buildings in disgust anymore. I now know a photographers tent hee hee
