A Foray Into Black and White

I love black and white photography, but I so rarely attempt it.  When I found the Black and White Wednesday meme, I decided to jump in.   Unlike the more recent posts, I didn't choose people...but instead, a tree.  This tree is a pine tree, planted on my mother's farm property more than 20 years ago by one of my brothers.  It was one of three young trees planted after the births of his two children.

I love this Evelyn!
Wonderful tones, and the simplicity of it is wonderful.
Beautifully done.

I'm like you: I love b&w photography, but rarely attempt it! This is a good illustration of what makes a good b&w subject. I think nature is the hardest to use b&w on, but look at all the shadows and light here, and how vintage this looks. Love it!
