P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday #22

The Painted Hills of Oregon are one of three units of the John Day Fossil Beds; my husband and I had visited the other two units two years ago.  After seeing photos of the Painted Hills, I determined we had to visit them this year at the end of May when the trip over mountain ranges is most beautiful. We didn't count on a car breakdown in a no-cell-service-zone, and a trip in a tow truck that took us 80 miles and two days from our destination.   However, we drove back the same way and visited the amazing geological wonderland of the Painted Hills.    It was difficult to choose, but I've settled on one of my photos for Kent Weakley's P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday.
