I love Dayle's Simple Pleasures challenge each week; it makes me look at things in a new way and recognize how much I appreciate them. Today is November 4 in NE Oregon, agricultural zone 5. We have had night-time temperatures in the 30's, and there's snow on nearby hills. But yesterday, I found this California Poppy. It's growing in deep gravel that surrounds the local high school events reader board. Persistent little thing and definitely out-of-synch with the season. How fun! It's simple...and it's a pleasure!

Oh my goodness, Evelyn! What a glorious little flower. You just made my day.
That's just stunning. I am crazy about the color. I've never seen anything quite like it.
Beautiful shot!
I love poppies and have tried to grow them here but without much luck. This one is absolutely a beautiful simple pleasure, thank you for sharing. Thank you too for coming by and for taking the time to leave me a sweet comment.

Beautiful color on this flower -- and for this time of the year, what a miracle. Love this shot, especially the vivid orange of the poppy surrounded by the lush green. Denise B.
