Dayle spotlights a beautiful window vignette with a sentiment about Friends on her blog today; she writes of the importance of friends far and near, even those we might know only through blogland. I have many internet acquaintances, some of whom I've shared personal stories with in the way people talk to strangers on the plane. But these "friends" are ones I continue to have contact with, unlike the airline passengers.
Today, my Simple Pleasure is something I take for granted many months of the year; I joked with my husband that there was only one month that I didn't use it last year. The photo is of the control for my side of the heated mattress pad on our bed. I LOVE it, and I really would not like to get into bed without it on. My husband goes to bed before I do (he gets up at 5), so he turns my side on high; when I get into bed, I turn it down for the night.
It's almost as nice as the heated waterbed we had for the first 10 years of our marriage.

Sounds like you have the perfect relationship! How wonderful to get into a warm welcoming bed!
This seems like a wonderful pleasure to me...cuddly, cozy, and warm. I love all of your pictures ~ great photography. I am a new photographer and I am trying to learn all I can, these are inspiring. That you for visiting me and leaving such a nice comment.
Oh that would be a nice thing to have here in New England. Especially since I get up at 5 and go to bed first!
What a great simple pleasure. Beats a hot water bottle! I've just enjoyed reading your blog. I'm a photo fanatic too and love to play about in PSE. Kathleen.
Oh I love that...my husband is such a heater I have to move him across the bed..or maybe that is me...hot flashes.
This is a great simple pleasure...we don't use those much here in Texas
Great simple pleasure, thanks for sharing.

...waterbeds. Oh, the memories!
Oh how my husband would love that. He puts so many blankets on the bed during the cold season because he loves the feel of a warm and cozy one. Of course, to me they're HEAVY. I would rather use YOUR system for sure.
that sounds sooooo nice...a heated cozy bed.
I love a warm bed in the depth of winter!
A hot water bottle is my best friend in the day-time, but the electric blanket at night is wonderful to curl up with :-)

Positively hedonistic :-)
Better than hotwater bottles any day.
Hi Evelyn,
I too love my electric blanket on the coldest winter nights. Warmth without weight -- perfect.I was glad when the waterbed era ended. Now the hubby and I are in our late 60s and arthritic --- we have THE best beds of our whole life. The head and feet go up and down and they have (wait for it) a massager in them. True bliss when your back is aching.

You and your husband have a great system.
One month? You must love your warmer!
What a wonderful idea, Evelyn! I'd love that, too!
What a unique simple pleasure. I used to enjoy an electric blanket but I tend to get hot really easy in the night. It is comforting, though, having your bed heated on a cold night.
