REDISCOVERING MYSELF THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY

Weeds are flowers too...

Each Monday now, I look forward to Lisa's Creative Exchange, and although I would like to post frequently during the week, I'm usually fortunate to have one photo to share.

I love this quote!  I found it last week when working on the processing of this photo of another simple teasel in a snowy landscape, and it reminded me of my high school teaching days.  There were students who weren't the most attractive, or most intelligent, or even pleasant, but getting to  know them over a period of time usually made a big difference, particularly as they moved into adulthood.     The teasel is a spiky, drab-colored 'weed' but I am drawn to it with my camera -- over and over.
(In the editing, I used two of Kim Klassen's textures and one of Ruby Blossom's.)

Truly Evelyn, I could not agree more. First of all, I can identify with what you say about students, as I also teach (university level mathematics and statistics), but even more so about the "weeds!" As my kids say..."Mom's taking pictures of dead stuff again!!!" But you know, I find so much beauty in flowers and weeds that are beyond their prime. I don't know, just something truly beautiful about them, and your phtograph here is a perfect example of that!!!
Thank you so much for sharing it this week at The Creative Exchange.

Have a wonderful day!

The quote is so true, I think it is in the eye do you have or not, can you see the beauty. I like your work really much, the edit so great.
Lovely greetings from Finland

Nicely put together - the texture you've chosen really makes the teasel 'pop'. I couldn't agree more about weeds. A weed is simply a wild flower growing in the wrong place. (There tend to be quite a few growing in the wrong place in my garden so it's a sentiment I'm happy to wholeheartedly embrace)! :D

Angelcel took my quote about weeds! And what a great analogy on how to view not only students, but everyone around us not considered "attractive" by culture's standards. Wonderful thoughts and photo.
