The Door to Winter

Lisa of The Creative Exchange shares starkly contrasting images of doors in her community....doors that are an  indication of the "soul" of the house.  I, too, love doors, but I haven't seen beautiful purple ones as Lisa has.  Instead, I'm looking at the beginning of winter again: snow, freezing temperatures, gray skies....and did I say "cold"?   It wasn't the first snow of November, but unlike the first snowfall, this one is still here.   My three potted rose bushes are on the back porch, and the dried leaves of one bush now hold snow.

I love this. It tells of the old supporting the present ;-) But that's just me.

photos like these make me so much more attune to what it's all about when it snows. A beautiful photograph; I'm glad you took the time to capture something that probably is just part of the norm for you.

This snow may not be convenient, but it furnished a wonderful photo opportunity. So crisp and a great contrast.

Evelyn, the detail you have captured in this is wonderful! It is still unseasonably mild here (65 degrees yesterday), but I am sure that it will all change very, very soon. :-(

Thank you so much for sharing at The Creative Exchange.

Have a beautiful Thanksgiving!

This is so beautiful, Evelyn - such a great capture! We haven't had snow so far, which is unusual, but it is also cold. And the heating broke down in the whole house - can you imagine! I'm sitting here with tea and blankets and sweaters and I'm freezing!!

aaah you've changed your blog colour and phot, awesome, except the light blue writing is hard to read or is it just me getting old lol. Love the brown leaves holding onto the snow, you could make a snow cone out of it just by adding some colour to the snow, gulp!!

Took me awhile to tweak mine, especially the links, lol your comments totally disappeared cos its white on white, had to hover around until it popped up. I'm still trying to work out how to put a picture up like everyone else does as the main feature pic

This is not a bread bowl for winter’s clam chowder but rather a leaf bowl for snow. I think this is a fabulous shot. I like everything about it. Lovely photography. genie

I love the way the leaves are acting as a reservoir for the snow. Beautiful!!

Such amazing detail on the leaf. I am imagining that i can even see each individual snowflake. Miss snow so much in Texas where it rarely snows. Lovely photos!

No snow for us yet -- or really much rain for that matter.

Love the way the leaves are cradling the snow. Wonderful. :)

This is an unimaginable sight for me! A great shot. What a beauty! Leaves turning itself into tiny pots collecting snow!
