I'm happy to get back into the "regular" things I like to do with this blog: try to meet challenges and invitations of various kinds. Lisa's The Creative Exchange is truly one of my favorites, probably because I appreciate Lisa's beautiful photographs and her thoughtful, caring comments. Also, those of us who participate don't get lost in huge numbers of respondents. "Favorite photo of 2011" is the suggested theme this week, but I don't do well in making choices. This particular photo is one I'm proud of because it's the first time I used textures effectively to create a poster-like image. They were just shriveled, snow-frosted berries on a tree outside a lawyer's office where I had met my brothers for some family business. I used a telephoto lens to capture the image and then applied two of Kim Klassen's textures.
As for the sugar-induced coma of the past holiday season, I'm trying to come out of it too. It will be a real challenge!

This is wonderful. Living in SW FL, I miss the snow!
this is really lovely.
I think white snow on red berries is about as pretty of a scene from winter as one can get :) Very nice texture application too.

I LOVE this Evelyn, and it really is very special since you are proud of it, and rightfully so!
Thank you so very much for sharing with us this today at the Creative Exchange.
Have a great evening!
lisa.
P.S. Glad to hear that it is not just Daryl and I with the sugar "issues!" :-)
Well, I've not seen all your photos from 2011, but oh my!! This one is AMAZINGLY pretty! Honestly, it is just gorgeous, Evelyn. I love your composition, and the way the snow adheres to the tops of the berries - such a lovely contrast - with beautiful bokeh in the background to boot. Super beautiful photograph, definitely. And I can see where it would be your favorite!
I am also trying to let the sugar go. Wish I didn't love sugar so much. This time of year it is so easy to get far too involved with the stuff. And now I must wean myself off it. Bummer. Oh well ... At least I am not alone in that regard. ;)
This is a wonderful photo! I look forward to getting to see more of your photos this year... =)
A beautiful fav choice! I like the minimalist and Japanese print-like feel of this capture!
Happy New Year to you!
Playing catch up Evelyn. This shot is simply gorgeous!

That's definitely a favourite, Evelyn! I love it!
