The Winter-Without-Snow Just Took a Drastic Turn

Dry and cold....no snow since November.   All that changed this week, particularly last night when a big front hit the Pacific Northwest.   For us in NE Oregon, it was a flashback to extreme winters years ago.  The wind causes the snow to splat in every direction and on every surface.   I'm not going anywhere today!  (It was a good thing my husband had a 4-wheel drive pickup to take to work this morning at 5:30. I stayed in bed until the power came back on at 8, after a 3-hour interruption.)

They show up to eat in the middle of a snowstorm?

The swirling snow covers everything

This shovel is leaning next to the front door...on the porch.

That's snow since yesterday
That's my husband's little car  on the other side of the fence!

I heard the Northwest got a big dump. Thanks for sharing the images -- the snow does have a special beauty!

...oh the poor birds (and you). I can't imagine how time-consuming it must be to actually DO anything in these conditions; how you function at all?! I don't think I could open the doors, until Spring was well on its way again. It must take up so much time to clear a pathway to get to your garage, to clear the driveway to get OUT of the garage ...putting rubbish bins out for collection? How can they pick them up...they have to wait till the roads are cleared? So many questions.

Fun to read the questions from someone in the souther henisphere! That is quite a load of snow. Perhaps mild temps will quickly follow and minimize all the snow removal required. Take care!

You can just feel how heavy that snow is by looking at your photos, Evelyn. Wondering if any moisture will be blown our way? Stay warm!

Ugh! Just hope none of that stuff is moving over here to the Northeast! The only thing that makes it tolerable is taking photos!

Wow! Those photos say it all. And those birds are inspiring - giving us a lesson in faith and tenacity. Seems like they're saying, Don't give up! There's good to be found, even in a snowstorm. :)

P.S. I would be honored if you would join me as I embark on a new blog hop which encourages the sharing of inspiration each Friday. It opens tonight and you can learn about it here:

Oh, yuck. We've barely had any snow this year, which is very strange for us. I'm sure a big storm will arrive sooner or later though :)
