A Road Runs Through It

When Foothill Road near La Grande, Oregon was built, it divided several farmhouses from their barns.  I always find that interesting, but I'm sure there's an explanation.   The result: barns are right at the edge of the road.  I'm re-joining Tricia's Barn Charm after skipping for a few weeks.

Right by the road they are often hard to photograph I've found but you captured this one beautifully!
Love the composition with the curved road and a hint of what's ahead.

Love this barn, Evelyn! The red and the metal roof are fantastic!

Wow - that one really is right on the road! That is a little too close for my comfort - but nice shot of the barn! Definitely don't need the zoom lens for this one!

What a nice barn! It's in great condition - love that fence and the doors. How strange to have the road run between house and barn.

wow, now that is REALLY on the edge of the road! that happens here too...i always think what a pita it must be for the owner! although the distance is still the same, just the thought of crossing the road seems a pain....love the image though!

I presume the barn was there before the road! They certainly didn't leave much of an easement.

That's a gorgeous barn, but, that's ridiculously close, I wouldn't feel safe inside the way people fly by when driving... No way!
They really shouldn't be allowed to build a road so close, that's awful!

Glad you're back & thanks for joining, Evelyn! =)

I always feel sorry for people that have roads come through and destroy their dreams...or come through and widen till the road is almost against the house. This is a beautiful barn...I am least glad that it did not have to be torn down.

Beautiful barn, but just a wee bit too close to the road to my way of thinking.

Years ago we looked at a property with five acres and the house on one side of the road, the barn and another five across the road. We couldn't even imagine doing that. lol

I've seen some barns close to the road, but never quite that close.

Fabulous shot. :-)
