Another Rural Tour

Continuing my practice of taking my 92-year-old mother on sightseeing drives in the county where she grew up, I drove a route that was partially new to me.   It's called Alder Slope, and the beautiful country backs up to the Wallowa Mountains, which are definitely jewels of the area.  Following are some images from the drive on Wednesday afternoon.   I'm joining Nancy's Rural Thursday blog hop

This license plate is definitely lost!  The fence post is in NE Oregon.

Horses are everywhere, and some get special treatment during the colder weather.  This blanket keeps the winter coat from growing too heavy and shaggy; this horse will be slick and shiny for warmer weather.

This is one view that is difficult to beat!

Unique fence decor....baseball caps of both genders adorn the fence posts.

Horses graze in a pasture at an elevation of 4000 feet.

Gorgeous scenery. Does your mum enjoy looking while you take photos? I can imagine the conversation in the car. People in the country are very ingenious, we see some great stuff too but I never get to stop to take photos as we are always in a hurry to get to the end which is hours away. One day I'll take a photographic drive lol

These are all great but that last shot of the grazing horse made me sigh with pleasure. I'm not much of a country gal but I know a lovely pastoral photo when I see one.
