On Top of the World

There's a mailbox in my mother's peony garden; I think someone in the family put it there for her to store garden tools.  That didn't last long.   But it's the perfect lookout perch for Papa Quail (California or Mountain, I'm not sure).   He and his mate raise their brood(s) each year where the peonies and the adjoining grain field meet, and Mother scatters grain for them regularly.

that's a really fun capture. and a lovely bird. I like the idea of the mailbox for storing garden tools. saves all those trips to the garage or the porch, where I keep most of mine. happy day to you Evelyn.

I love seeing the quail and listening to them talking to each other! He did find a great lookout spot for watching over his family! :)

What a beautiful backdrop for this beautiful quail. Never thought to use a mailbox for anything else. How clever!

Love the idea of a mailbox to store garden tools. And of course, quail on a mailbox is lovely, too.
