Out of Season?

When I planted a shallow container with portulaca/moss rose plants in early June, that was the simple plan.  Then at the end of the month, the local garden club had a plant sale and I picked up a few perennials.  One  was a little "wild strawberry" plant, so I tucked it into the container of moss roses.  It hid there all summer, and now it's blooming and producing fruit--actually, for the second time.   It doesn't know it's almost October.  When the cold hits, as it's bound to do, I'll tuck it away in the shed for the duration, hoping that both it and the portulaca will be around next spring.

How gorgeous! Love your photo, I would love to see a picture of the whole container. I love Alpine Strawberries, hope they overwinter well for you, they are a nice little sweet treat! Blessings!
