Trees and Snow

Living in an area of valleys means that we have to "climb up and out" to go anywhere.  The only time that might be an issue is during the winter.  This area of the state has notorious stretches of highway that truckers dread.  However, one of the snowiest areas is due west of our little town: Hwy 204, a two-lane highway that crosses the summit of the Blue Mountains at  5158 feet in elevation.   Those of us who have lived here most of our lives opt for the two-lane highway over the four-lane freeway 20 miles to the south.   Traffic is light and the plowed highway often resembles a toboggan run.  Plus, it's beautiful.  Today, the snow hung heavy on the trees; recent high winds obviously hadn't visited the area, and temperatures in the 20's has prevented any melting.  (The trip back home was under pretty blue skies, but that's for the next post!)

Love the pretty snow covered trees. It does look beautiful. I wish I was not such a wimp about driving on snowy roads. Happy weekend!

loving photographs like these Evelyn; totally beautiful. It seems majestic and it must be so serene (when there's no traffic) to walk in these areas, trees and snow. Love your header image!

Oh.My.Word. That is so beautiful!! Not having the need or opportunity to do much driving in the snow in the past few decades, I would be terrified of driving on that road though!

Breathtaking! I love the shot with the road. I'd be having a panic attack driving on that, but it sure is pretty.
