A Promise
I had poppies in my flower bed this year for the first time ever. I took one seed pod from a pink poppy plant last fall, planted the seeds, and was rewarded with several beautiful flowering plants this summer. I was shocked and dismayed when tree squirrels ate every pod on the plants. I'll collect more pods, this time darker pink ones from my mother's and bright red ones growing next to the highway about 3 miles from my house (I've assigned my husband to pick the pods for me!). The poppy pod is a fascinating capsule, truly full of promise. I'm linking up with Nancy's Tuesday Muse.

Really squirrels ate every pod on the plants. You have to give them nuts or something that they live your flowers in peace:)
those darn squirrels are so pesky. they will eat everything and leave you nothing. I like the textures you've used in this.
Over here, poppies have exploded over the past few years, they are probably popular with the squirrels for their additional properties! I shouldn't worry too much though, I but you find they come back whatever.
Gorgeous Evelyn! Strange that the squirrels ate the pods. Aren't they opiates?
I like the pods almost as much as the flowers! Good luck!
Love poppy seed heads, and your processing on this one is wonderful.
Good luck, squirrels are such a pest...
oh, i wish i could gather some seed pods to sprinkle around here!
These are simply gorgeous! I love to collect pods, nuts, and wasp nests too!
The pods are fascinating little carriers of seeds. Squirrels eat everything -- pesky little guys! Hope you get lots of different colors. Lovely shot. Happy Tuesday.
Beautiful photo and editing.
Squirrels can drive you crazy. I fight them for our tomatoes.
Good luck....
Dang squirrels! I love the edit on your picture AND the poppies in your header shot! :)
Such a lovely image this is. The pods are as beautiful as the flowers.
How amazing! They look like little robin's eggs. Beautiful!
Wow - what a wonderfully unique image, Evelyn! I wish you an abundance of poppies (and pods) next year!
Lovely image!
Something ate every single sunflower plant we planted this year... probably birds since we don't seem to have an abundance of squirrels, but still... it's upsetting so I understand your dismay at the squirrels taking your pods. Ornery creatures~
