On my weekly drive with my elderly mother, I tried to think of someplace we haven't been in the past two years. I settled on the Rimrock Inn, located in the NE Oregon part of Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, just 14 miles from the Washington border. The elevation is more than 4000 feet, and the deck of the inn faces Joseph Canyon. We chose to sit outside to eat our lunch--we were the only customers--and were entertained by all the hummingbirds at the two feeders, as well as the giant hanging basket of petunias.

Joseph Canyon was once the winter home of the Nez Perce Indians, who couldn't understand why the white settlers stayed at higher elevations when the weather was much milder down in the canyon. |

Hummingbirds were plentiful, darting and buzzing and feeding |

What a wonderful spot!!!
What a gorgeous view you had, Evelyn, and how nice it must have been to have all of those hummingbirds there. For whatever reason, our hummingbirds are seriously absent this year. :-(
GREAT hummingbird shots!

That last shot is splendid! Such vivid color.
