Friday's Random 5

Joining in with Nancy's Random 5 Friday:

Today is one of my "take-Mother-for-a-drive" days; I missed last week for some reason.  We've covered hundreds of miles in my home county this year, and we've eaten many wonderful chicken taco salads at the little Mexican restaurant 20 miles from Mom's home.  I'm sure today's drive will take us on familiar roads, but with Mother's lack of short term memory, she won't be bored.  And we'll eat lunch at La Laguna again.

I've actually done some crafting this past week, and the stamping supplies piled on the kitchen table are a testament to that fact.  My other blog has the evidence.

Yesterday I went to a cabinet shop and ordered a vanity for the very small "guest" bathroom.  The present vanity is only 30 inches tall, and our 6'3" son is coming to spend a month in a few weeks.  The bathroom has needed an upgrade for years.  I chose a custom order (34 1/2 inches tall)  because there were no white ready-mades on the showroom floor.  Then I had to walk a block to choose the sink---this is the same business, but the sinks are in a different building than the cabinets!  Now I need to shop for a tall toilet.

We had a humdinger of a thunder and lightning storm two nights ago; fortunately, we got 1/2 inch of rain at the same time.

Two serious accidents in our little town recently have been on the minds of residents, and the fund-raising begins to help with medical bills.  One of the young men will most likely not walk again.  Count your blessings.

Amen! Count your blessing each and every day you wake up again. I work at a hospital and know how fortunate I am to be as healthy as I am! You are doing a wonderful thing for your mom. *admiration*

How wonderful it must be to see and share the beautiful countryside with your mom. This is a lovely quote and image.

I hope you had a nice drive with your mother. :)
Love that enameled embossing! Stamping has come a looong way since I used to do it, about 10 years ago.
Sorry to hear about the accidents, sending healing thoughts for the families.

I just cringe when I hear sirens when it is just as kids are either going to or leaving school...the high school is just a couple miles from us.

I love hearing about your travels with your mom and seeing your wonderful photos.
Mexican is my favorite food to eat out.
We had that huge storm last night. Posted a few shots on the blog today from it.

I can relate to one of your 5 - being taking Mum for a drive, which I'm about to do in about fifteen mins time. Unfortunately she isn't able to get out and walk anywhere; I buy a luncheon alongtheway and have a little tray for her. Pull up beside the lake and have that. Then go to a lakeside location where we can see the swans and other birds - I have a thermos and cappuccino treat sitting in the boot for when we reach here.

Love that you spend time with your mom exploring your beautiful countryside.

So sad about the two young men -- I wish the best for them.
