Struggles this week with the assignment for Frugal Still Life...disappointment with purchase of "tent" soft box for still life photography...limited time with natural light...and strange compositions of items. No burlap here, but a crocheted doily with some artificial flowers, a vintage Ball jar, and a little square box. I edited with Picasa, RadLab, Nelly Nero actions, and Kim Klassen's "xanthe" texture.

I think despite of your struggles you did a great job! I too was considering to purchase a soft box, but instead I'm going to get the Lowel Ego light (often it's used for food and product photography). Love the crocheted doily & the lovely "heart" box and the Ball mason jar is always a wonderful prop to use.
Hi Evelyn - I really love the softness of your edit and that ball jar is a treasure! The only thing I'd do a bit different with this is straighten the image so the jar is sitting upright. Practice reviewing your shot prior to shooting through your viewfinder. Great job!!

It worked just fine, very pretty! :)
But it's so pretty, Evelyn, and I love the composition.
I love the end result, so pretty !
i think this is very pretty, love the color combo and the way you put it together.
I think it turned out great! I too have a dark house and I haven't found the right lighting.
Lovely.
I think this turned out lovely - such a soft pretty photo!
I love your photo - a delightful feeling of being in peace and content. The soap is so pretty, and the rose brings light and a touch of vintage!
Your end result is so lovely!
Oooh, I really like this. I love the soft texture of the doily and the soft blue of the old Ball jar. Beautiful!
Even with the struggles you did succeed. :) I like the combination of textures here. I too struggle with a lack of light - northern winters mostly.
