I live in a valley surrounded by hills, mountains and evergreen forests. Yesterday, my husband suggested a drive north about 8 miles to look for mushrooms. We didn't find mushrooms, but there were other signs of spring. I hadn't seen a trillium in years because I generally don't go out into the woods anymore. They are a delightful sign of spring. And buttercups! When I was a child, these yellow gems grew in various locations close to home.

I've never seen trilliums growing in bunches before. |

(clockwise from top left)Yellow Fawn lily, buttercup, lichen on the stump of a pine branch, and an unidentified purple flower --my wildflower book doesn't identify it.

You have white trillium and we have a maroon color here. The wildflowers are really beautiful, especially that fawn lily--wow. Great images of nature coming alive.
I enjoyed the series Evelyn, the trilliums I've heard of but never seen either. I love the stand of Western Larch
Simply lovely. I love Wild Flowers. The Trillium is so pretty and Tamarack trees are a favorite of mine.
What a wonderful idea your husband had. It resulted in these gorgeous photos. Love the wildflowers.
This is such a perfect time to be looking for wildflowers, and you found some real beauties, Evelyn. I just love the trillium.
Nice shots :)
I love this time of year when the wildflowers are blooming!
