"Off a quiet residential street in the northeast Oregon town of La Grande lies what is possibly the most architecturally outstanding outdoor staircase in Oregon. The Italian Renaissance Revival Grand Staircase {built in 1929} rises five tears up a hillside on the campus of Eastern Oregon University. Unfortunately, it is forgotten and deteriorating, the victim of ground movement, La Grande's harsh winters, and the budget woes of Oregon's higher education system."
This beautiful old staircase is now closed off to use because of its deteriorated state. However, I visit it each time I visit the campus with my camera. In fact, I always park my car just across the narrow street from the staircase. Today's image is my choice for Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Beautiful architecture!! Very nice shot!
Beautiful staircase and great shot.
Such a shame that a beautiful icon like this is forgotten and deteriorating. Thank goodness for photographs to help us remember its beauty.
