P52 Sweet Shot Tuesday #18

"Bridge of the Gods" --- what a romantic name! It's actually more romantic in name than in looks--a steel cantilever span that crosses the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington; the town on the Oregon side is named Cascade Locks.   I have driven by literally hundreds of times over my lifetime, but have actually driven into the little town beside the freeway only once.   This time, I took the side trip with a purpose:  photograph the Bridge of the Gods.  The story of the land bridge that once spanned the river is a fascinating one; Native Americans know just what happened all those years ago.

Joining with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Below...the mural depicting the land bridge of long ago.
