Winter in the Valley

We've had piddly winters the past two years: snow came and went just as quickly and the fire season last summer burned thousands of acres that hadn't had enough winter moisture.  Before Christmas this  year, we had real snow, snow that stayed.  Then the cold weather set in...below zero night temperatures for 3 days.  On Sunday, it was 6 degrees at 8 a.m. and snowing like crazy.  That's unusual.  Today, it warmed up to the 40's for the first time in about three weeks.  About 15 miles "out north," it was still in the 20's and was a winter wonderland.  I had a great drive around midday.

This is a view of the valley our little town sits in.  There's only one spot on the road that presents this view.

Let's hear it for real winters! Hurray. Here in Oregon we are also having a real winter, thanks to El Nino I suppose.

My goodness, you have some gorgeous views there, Evelyn.

So far, we have not had much winter. We are usually buried in snow by now, but really very little. As a matter of fact, it was 57 degrees on Christmas Day! Today? A bit more wintry at 15 below 0, but still no snow. I would rather have the snow, than the cold.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and I wish you a bright, beautiful New Year.

It looks like a winter wonderland. Your area is so beautiful in the snow....Our mountains have had snow but we are just cold and sunshine....

It's gorgeous but I'm all for bringing back the "piddly" winters.
