Although my husband and I make frequent trips across Oregon to provide "back-up" for our daughter-in-law and granddaughter, we also take time to enjoy some of the sights. In late August, we actually walked two of Hillsboro's beautiful parks...each one multiple acres in size. Both are examples of urban parks that help the visitor forget they are tucked into a city. Both parks include Rock Creek.
The first park was Noble Woods Park, 38 acres of wetlands and forest. It was amazing to walk into a forest of fir and cedar where the surrounding city could not be heard.
We have no idea what these gnarly trees are...or why they are this way.
The second park walk was in Rood Bridge Park, the largest of Hillsboro's wooded parks at 60 acres. It was such a surprise to see the pond totally covered with lily pads; a year ago, there were none!
Most of the paths in Rood Bridge park are natural...without any paving.
This is the start of a beaver dam; the branch at the right had recently been gnawed from a tree.
Rood Bridge Park also includes a more developed area, with tennis courts, playground, large pavilion, River House, boat launch....and more.
