Project 52 2014 #52 -- The End

One photo chosen each of the 52 weeks in 2014---I've now completed my third Project 52.  The photo book will be my next project:  choosing the publisher and the format requires some time on my part.  But the result is always so satisfying.   Thanks again to Kent Weakley for hosting this Project 52 for 2014!

Project 52 2014 #51

Joining with Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday....my now-favorite "vintage" auto.  I ticked off one item on my Photo "bucket list":  photograph the old red Ford in snow.  The opportunity arose at the end of Thanksgiving weekend.  I definitely want it in my photo book for 2014.

Project 52 2014 #50

The cold and snowy start to December has turned to cold and wet--and foggy.  We live in a valley which is susceptible to fog when there's a combination of moisture and lower temperatures.  My foggy photo is the choice for Week 50 of Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #49

A week away...four days at the Pacific Coast on the other side of the state...and I captured my 49th choice for Project 52.  It's the beautiful Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport, Oregon.  Linking up with Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 2014 #48

The year of 2014 is winding down, which is difficult for me to comprehend; I would like Time to slow just a bit!   For Week #48 of Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday, I've selected a photo I took a few days ago when the overnight freeze had resulted in fog and frost.

Project 52 2014 #47

It's a country windmill, bright and shiny in the cold (below freezing) afternoon light.   I've added a layer of Flypaper's "Sauvage Byzantine" texture.  This is my choice for Week 47 of Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #46

Linking up with the 46th week of  Kent Weakley's Project 52: a beautiful 128-year-old church in morning light.

Project 52 2014 #44

I drove several miles around and up out of our valley one foggy morning, anticipating some foggy images.  When it came down to choosing one for my Project 52 book, however, it wasn't a foggy one at all.  I'm a country girl, and this photo speaks to me:  country scenery, barbed wire, and colorful lichen on the old fence post.  I'm adding this image to Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #43

The beautiful fall continues to linger, but we know rain and cold are on the way.  As of now, even morning light on the little creek is golden.  Joining with Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #42

Some years, the colors of fall are especially varied and vibrant.  These jewel-toned leaves are a short distance from my front door, growing in an alley against the  wall of an old shop---I don't even know what's inside, although I've lived here 36 years.  The owner is a homegrown mechanic, always working on some kind of vehicle, generally an old one.  Its location in a residential zone, across the street from a century-old church, is one of those sights relatively typical in small rural towns like ours.  But I digress. The colorful leaves decorate the weathered wood, and make a good choice for my Project 52 photo book.  I'm linking again with Kent Weakley's Project 52  and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #41

It's October...and it's fall.   Warm days and cold nights.   Many of the trees are turning their autumn colors; I can only hope the cold nights don't get too cold, forcing the leaves to drop before they are fully colored.  Meanwhile, there are reminders....and I'm adding this leaf to Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #40

Gee, only 12 weeks left in this year!  I feel as if I'm sliding downhill...well, I guess I am, metaphorically, in age.  I've chosen an image that is not so unusual in rural areas---rather "Wild West" in nature.   Joining with Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #36 and #37

It's been a long 10 days for me without a computer!  I decided to have a bigger and faster one built while my husband and I were on a week-long vacation.  Getting the new PC "in service" took awhile because of all the editing programs I had to re-install, passwords I had to look up so I could log in to the various sites.  Agonizing over Outlook---how in the world does this program make things easier for someone in an office?  In the back of my mind was my Project 52 for 2014....I'm posting two weeks of photos for Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Week Number 36  --This looks like a dogwood blossom....one of the few flowers remaining in the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Portland, Oregon --- a beautifully designed and landscaped garden

Week Number 37 -- Tugs and barges on the Columbia River with majestic Mt. Hood in the background; this is a view from Kelley Point Park, where the Willamette and Columbia rivers merge in the northern part of Portland, Oregon. The northern bank of the Columbia is in the state of Washington.

Project 52 2014 #35

I am fortunate to live at the foot of the Blue Mountains in NE Oregon; we make the trip "over the mountains' fairly frequently for the purpose of shopping (or for me, photographing dogwood trees in the spring).  This past weekend, a cold front had moved through, bringing some thunderstorms and rain.  The clouds were amazing, and the sunset beautiful.   I took this photo at a "viewpoint" along the mountain highway, and I'm joining with Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Project 52 2014 #34

Joining with Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

My husband and I took a drive some 30+ miles from our home on Saturday. At the edge of one of the little rural towns (all towns but one in our entire area are small), two gray horses stood next to the fence, snoozing in the afternoon heat.

Week 33 of Project 52

I am definitely challenged when it comes to photographing the moon...even a "supermoon."  This time, I researched what to do, what settings for my camera, etc., etc.  I was behind before I started, because I forgot the moon now rises more to the south; it was already past "moon rise" when I started out.  My husband drove me a little out into the country so there would be no utility wires or rooftops.  My photos looked terrible when I checked them; they seemed underexposed and out-of-focus.   We returned to the house in frustration, but I decided to try again.  I'm still not pleased with the focus, but my 70-300mm lens has been a disappointment in that area.   Here is my version of the second "supermoon" of 2014, definitely looking supernatural because of the massive wildfires in this part of the country.

Week 31 of Project 52

The rural area I live in is now surrounded with fields of ripening grain. It is truly a golden harvest.  I'm joining with Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.
