My Sunday Creative is Obsolete

Justine Gordon (she of the lovely biscotti photograph on her blog!) is handling Sunday Creative for a while, filling in for Maegan.   When I saw today's theme, I scratched my head for a minute...thought it might be appropriate to add a photo of myself ...and then remembered that old washboard out in the shed.  Remember Montgomery Ward?  That big fat catalog and the catalog stores.  People ordered almost anything and everything, including this early 'washing machine'!

Today's Sunday Creative prompt is
Obsolete
1. no longer in general use, fallen into disuse.
2. effaced by wearing down or away.
3. to make obsolete by replacing with something newer or better; antiquate.

The 'business' side
Montgomery Ward

I love this, can't imagine how anyone could possibly do a family wash using this! loved the idea that you would put a picture of yourself up first (I so know that feeling!). These are great shots and perfect for the prompt.

This is perfect for the prompt, Evelyn! Great shot! I'm so glad I have an "automatic" washing machine...! ;-)

oh... my family had one of these 'washing machines' in cement :) I even used it once or twice! We have to praise evolution!
Thank you for passing by my blog and for the great comment you left!

Don't laugh but I actually used one of these for about 11 years before I could afford a washing machine. Then, it was only a ringer washer. I have the good ones now. What memories these photos bring back. Now they are used as decorations. There's probably a lot of DNA on them from scraped knuckles. Gruesome thought!
