We planted a Crimson Maple tree on the west side of our house last year because the aged Box Elder tree that shades our family room window is dying. However, we didn't think very much about potential size of the new tree and now we're wondering if we made a mistake. It's next to the sidewalk, and I can visualize the roots lifting the concrete after a few years. The leaves, however, are beautiful almost any time of year---and there are some giant ones.
