We planted a Crimson Maple tree on the west side of our house last year because the aged Box Elder tree that shades our family room window is dying. However, we didn't think very much about potential size of the new tree and now we're wondering if we made a mistake. It's next to the sidewalk, and I can visualize the roots lifting the concrete after a few years. The leaves, however, are beautiful almost any time of year---and there are some giant ones. (Photo processed with Picnik.) This is my Simple Pleasures shot for Thursday.

Ah ... it's breathtaking. I so miss my silver maple tree. It produced some of the most wonderfu colors in the fall, but disease forced us to part with it. It was at least 50-feet tall when we had it cut down.
Thanks so much for linking up today. This is a perfect simple pleasures post.
Evelyn,
We had to have our beautiful maple tree cut down this past summer because it was lifting the concrete in my driveway and the sidewalk. I know how hard it is to part with something that gives such pleasure each season. Love the Fall colors!

I love the detail that shows on the leaf. Such gorgeous color as well. The special effects really enhance this shot. Beautiful photo! Denise B.
Beautiful! Love fall - it's my favorite time of year because of all the changing leaves.
How very beautiful!

very pretty...I love this time of year...the colors are breathtaking.
I'm anxious for fall colors to arrive in my neck of the woods. My favorite time of year!
I like the pose of this leaf.
The colors are beautiful and the Fall colors are awesome.
Oh, it's beautiful! We don't have maples here. We have some "varieties" but nothing like the maple trees I grew up with as a little girl in New England. I would treasure up the leaves from that tree if I were near it.
Very much a simple pleasure.
Beautiful Picture ..I love photography and am new to simple pleasures .. thanks for sharing
