Flooded Reflection

Linking up with Weekend Reflections #90:   The rain has been persistent in this part of the country this year; the Grande Ronde Valley is huge and the Grande Ronde River winds circuitously through the valley.  It floods in the spring, but this spring brought more widespread flooding when the rain and snow melt combined.  Acres of farmland are under water, but nothing like the Midwest.  Willow Creek is a little creek that runs east under the highway into the river.  We often see it flooded at least once during the year but this year, it has been at least 4 times.   It looks somewhat like a lake now, reflecting the Blue Mountains to the west.  (Yes, that's snow on the mountains and it's mid-June.) The metal gate in the foreground is connected to a fence, both presently underwater.

Terrific reflections and you have had an enormous amount of rain this year as so many parts of the country have! We've had lots of grumpy, gray skies here in Seattle and more rain than usual, but not THAT much, thankfully! Hope you have a great weekend!

Oh my I see the metal gate. That's a lot of water. But you have a very great reflection here. Great landscape too. Happy weekend!

So sorry that you have been plagued with floods. It does not matter that yours are less than the Midwest... when your property floods it is 100% regardless.

So glad that you captured the beauty of this flooded scene with its rich hues of blues and greens with a hint of purple. Beautiful

This is a wonderful photograph Evelyn, especially that great reflection! Thus far this year, we have experienced some of the strangest weather that I can remember, and I know it that way elsewhere also. Hopefully it all changes for the better real soon.

Have a beautiful weekend!!

The flooding doesn't sound like fun but great shot.

If that's suppose to be a creek, I'd have to suggest it's reconsideration, because it makes one beautiful lake!!! heheheee! =)

So simple, but yet a gorgeous view! Seem to have several teachers in my circle of friends (and they are gracious with my grammatical errors, because I'm Dutch:) )

So very pretty especially with the touches of snow on the mountains.

Floodwaters are good for at least one thing — reflections. This is beautiful. Most unfortunate, but beautiful nevertheless.

What a gorgeous shot. It looks like the water is supposed to be there - except for that fence!

It has been a weird winter/spring/early summer in Oregon hasn't it??? We still can't plant our garden because it is mushy and muddy. Sigh.
