Joy in the Snow

We haven't had typical winter weather this year:  snow in early November and then nothing.  This weekend, however, the Pacific Northwest got a minor winter blast and the snow made it to our corner of Oregon today.  For Lisa's Creative Exchange (beautifully guest-posted by Anna of Alchemy of Art, who displays some wonderful wintry scenes), I've chosen a different kind of photo for my post this week.  It's my great-niece, Lauren, a 17-year-old whose "senior pictures" I've been taking each season since last summer.  We drove just 20 miles to the summit of the Blue Mountains where the temperature was only 20 degrees.  A brief snow shower moved through, so we took advantage of the event.   (Facial snowflakes just can't be erased very easily!)

You have chosen an excellent scene to place you niece Lauren in. She's not bundled up so I get the feeling that it's not extremely cold. The winter here on the north shore of Lake Ontario is far from being normal. Our first real snow fall occurred last Friday but it was only a couple of inches.

20 degrees & no coat? She's tough! LoL! Looks like the snow is coming down pretty good... it snowed here 3 times before Jan (extremely unusual for here) & once since, but nothing substantial... plus, it's been mostly in the 40's, 50's, & 60's so far this entire winter, so a very strange season!

How gorgeous, Evelyn! I love the happiness this photo shows and I couldn't have guessed that it was that cold! Just look at that smile! Great tones, too!

What a great photo! But isn't she cold without a coat on? My daughter textred me a picture of her dog playing in the snow (Portland, OR). How exciting!
