Northern Flicker

Each time I've tried to photograph a flicker, I'm too late---or they're too fast.   Not yesterday, though.  The mass of goldfinches and house finches had left the feeders temporarily, so this feast was undisturbed.

Not sure my other comment went thru as I'm trying to do this from my new iPad.

This is a stunning shot, Evelyn. You are so fortunate to have seen this beauty and captured him so well. Wow.

Love this one - and the one of the flicker inside the feeder in the next post - one of my favorite birds - and tradition has it a Flicker in your yard is good luck!
