Each time I've tried to photograph a flicker, I'm too late---or they're too fast. Not yesterday, though. The mass of goldfinches and house finches had left the feeders temporarily, so this feast was undisturbed.
beautiful shot... but that header photo has my attention! WoW! how do you get anything done out there w/ views like that? i know i've probably said that before, but i just don't understand =0
Love this one - and the one of the flicker inside the feeder in the next post - one of my favorite birds - and tradition has it a Flicker in your yard is good luck!

I just love these birds. We had a couple a few years ago, but they have been scarce.
