Still on the bank

I've blogged about this old car before and I've collected several images for "rusty and crusty" in my Flickr photostream, but I just had to stop and photograph it again.  It is embedded in the bank of the Minam River right above where that river joins the Wallowa River.  I have no idea how long the old vehicle has been there, but it's a very long time!  Old cars used to be employed to stabilize river banks where they tended to flood.  I'm joining in with Madge's Rurality Blog Hop.

Huh! Using junk cars for a specific purpose. Pretty cool! Love the texture and brown tones.

I did not know that about using the old cars to stabilize the banks.

Love that shot, very rustic... I'm always wondering just why 'that' spot became the final resting place of old vehicles... thanks for your kind thoughts today Evelyn... xo

Very nice shot. It does look pretty rustic. There is one down near Battle Ground, WA where my brother lives that's logged in a tree. It went off the road though and landed in the tree and that's where it's been every since.
