Weekly Top Shot {Mountain Border}

For Madge's Weekly Top Shot, I was able to capture scenery we are so fortunate to experience on a regular basis.

Yesterday was a beautiful day in this part of Oregon, and it was perfect for a drive back into my home county of Wallowa and south to Joseph and Wallowa Lake with two of my great-nieces. Along the drive, The Seven Devils mountains of Idaho to the east seemed so close.  (Actually, as the crow flies, the mountains were about 35 miles away.)

These are the Seven Devils mountains of Idaho, located on the Oregon-Idaho border, which is also the area of Hells Canyon. According to Wikipedia:
Hells Canyon is a 10-mile (16 km) wide canyon located along the border of eastern Oregon, eastern Washington and western Idaho in the United States. It is part of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and is North America's deepest river gorge at 7,993 feet (2,436 m), (although mountain He Devil - being the reference for the canyon's depth - is more than five miles away and not perceivable from the river).
The canyon was carved by the waters of the Snake River, which flows more than 1 mile (1.6 km) below the canyon's west rim on the Oregon side and 7,400 feet (2,300 m) below the peaks of Idaho's Seven Devils Mountains range to the east. Most of the area is inaccessible by road.

Amazing view! I love the northeast corner of OR, it is so beautiful... some days the atmosphere is just right for photographing mountains, like you can reach out and touch them... Thank you Evelyn,
for coming by sharing your creative photography on the Weekly Top Shot, #171!
