When Outside Photography Fails, Try Some Still Life

I drove for about 45 minutes in the countryside near my home this morning, but none of my photos were worth posting.  So I went back to some objects I had played with yesterday for some natural light still life sessions.   The orange "helicopters" from a maple tree had caught my eye during my early morning walk, but it was a couple of hours later that I drove back to the spot to pick them up.  This will be Photo #38 in the Project 52 2013 photo book.  Joining with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

White Roses

I've been working with still life the past few days, trying to preserve the last of my summer flowers. This is my choice for Week 36 of Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

The Pepper Made Me Do It!

It seems like awhile since I've joined in with Madge's Weekly Top Shot. My choice is a photographic experiment, inspired by a bright red pepper I cut up for a recipe Thursday night. The next day, I set up a tripod, draped a black velvet background on an old kitchen stool and placed it next to an east-facing window in my "white room."

Still Life --- I'm game!

Still Life Standouts        Too late!   The collection was closed.  Maybe next month!

It's called Still Life Standouts, and it's a challenge sponsored by three great photo bloggers:  Branson of My Reflection of Something, Courtney of One Mom's Perfect Imperfection, and Courtney of The Mommy Matters.   September's Still Life Photos are at the forefront now.   My choice is a once-beautiful coneflower that now has a different kind of beauty.
