Week 52 is Here!

Each week of 2013, I've posted a photo to Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday meme.  This is my final photo for Project 52 this year, and I'll be ordering a photobook right after Christmas.

Leaf on Ice

After the raking and after the snow, some maple leaves still dropped from the trees.  The remnants of snow are scattered around the lawn, and all are icy. It's Week #51 of Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Sunset at Zero Degree(s) Fahrenheit

Yes, it has been cold here, and extremely cold temperatures are simply not conducive to outdoor photography.  But a quick drive on the country road I've taken so many times when I needed a photo produced a striking winter sunset.  It's Week #50 of Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

It's the Season of Cold

Night and morning hard frosts, a warming trend with heavy rain, snow, and then a deep freeze.  That's winter in NE Oregon. Linking with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday and Week #49.

Week #48 of Project 52

As I look back over the year of P52, I enjoy seeing my weekly photos that will soon be bound in a photo book.   Once again, I'm linking up with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Wintry Details

It's that time of year, and snow might be in more of my final images for Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.  With this image, I can almost smell the pine needles and wet bark!

Black and White in Color

Aspen trees, with their white bark and dark accents, are my favorite ... any time of year.  Joining with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday for Week #46, closing in on the completion of the project!

Wintry Weather Means Flowers from the Grocery Store

When the cold rain and wind come in early November, it's time to buy some flowers for the photography.

Another One for the Book

I take my Project 52 challenge (Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday) very seriously. One photo a week, with a photo book to be published at the end of the year. Obviously, I want each photo to be one that I really like, one that's worth printing in a book. Each week, I work diligently to take the kind of photo that's "book-worthy."  Yesterday and today were challenging, to say the least. I took 3 separate drives to capture what would work---each time, I was disappointed. And then this one showed up on my monitor--a wire gate to a farmer's field.

Autumn Red

A single red leaf on the sidewalk of a small town tucked in the shadows of the Wallowa Mountains. This is my choice for Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday, Week #43.

A Dreamcatcher for Old Chief Joseph

At the foot of Wallowa Lake is the grave of Old Chief Joseph, chief of the Nez Perce tribe in the Wallowas of NE Oregon.   Born about 1789, he died in 1872. ( His son, the younger Chief Joseph, led his people during the period of the influx of white settlers and broken treaties, eventually leading to conflicts that forced Joseph to lead 800 of his people toward Canada.  However, American soldiers trapped them and forced them to surrender just 50 miles from the Canadian border.  "From where the sun now stands, I will fight no more forever.")  The old chief's headstone is decorated with items left by visitors---plastic toys, coins, buttons, bottle caps, a Portland Timbers muffler tied in a shrub, and this beautiful handmade dreamcatcher.

Week 41 of Project 52 2013

A change in weather, particularly a cold front, generally means a sky show of clouds. Because I live in a valley, I just drive up to the flat, called Cricket Flat, to see the panorama. ( Kent Weakley's Project 52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.)

Week #40 in Project 52

Only 12 more weekly photos to the completion of another Project 52 photo book!  I love looking back to see what choice I made for each week of Kent Weakley's P52 (and Sweet Shot Tuesday).  This photo was taken early one morning when the fog was on the hills above the valley instead of the usual location near the river.

When Outside Photography Fails, Try Some Still Life

I drove for about 45 minutes in the countryside near my home this morning, but none of my photos were worth posting.  So I went back to some objects I had played with yesterday for some natural light still life sessions.   The orange "helicopters" from a maple tree had caught my eye during my early morning walk, but it was a couple of hours later that I drove back to the spot to pick them up.  This will be Photo #38 in the Project 52 2013 photo book.  Joining with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Reaching for the Sky

The neighbor's sunflowers are like Jack's beanstalk....they have grown towards the sky.  The fence in front of them is at least 6 feet tall, but the yellow flowers tower above that.  Joining in with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday #37.

White Roses

I've been working with still life the past few days, trying to preserve the last of my summer flowers. This is my choice for Week 36 of Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Gettin' Down and Muddy

Mud volleyball-- it was the second annual tournament involving 16 teams playing for local food banks.   12 hours of the messy stuff:  the rodeo arena gets "hosed down" by the local fire department about three times during the day, resulting in mud that gets sloppier and more slippery.   I like how the splatters of mud seem to jump off the photo here.  This is my choice for Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday -- Week 35.

A Photo 8 Years in the Making

It might not be as many as 8 years, but 6 could work, too.  My husband and I have a daughter-in-law! Our youngest son will be 32 in December, and he was married Sunday, August 18 in one of the most beautiful ceremonies I've ever witnessed. (We hired a wonderful professional photographer, but I strolled around with my camera where I could.)   This image is my choice for Week 34 of P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.

Following original post, I combined a rehearsal image with the wedding one ...

Clematis in the Fence

This pretty purple clematis worked its way through a wooden fence to bloom on the sunny side.  Linking up with Kent Weakley's P52 and Sweet Shot Tuesday.
