Simple Healthful Eating

My Simple Pleasure this week is just that:  simple.   After getting what seemed like an avalanche of not-so-good news about the condition of my body ---many related to my age, I suppose---I decided to work on an anti-inflammation diet.   It's relatively simple, but it did make me own up to the fact that I do not eat enough fresh fruits and vegetables.    Fresh fruit right now includes beautiful oranges and 'mineolas,' as well as crisp, sweet Fuji apples.  (I never thought I'd ever pay $1.99 a pound for apples; the Pacific Northwest grows apples, for heaven's sake!  But I'm doing it, and it's worth it!)   This bowl of citrus provides wonderful color on these gray late winter days.

Mmmm. I'm a big fan of fresh fruit and citrus fruits always seem so tasty at this time of year.

Don't forget kiwi fruit, which has even more vit. C, though without the rutin and hesperin, which you find inside the citrus rind. (You eat some of that white stuff as well I hope.)

Looks delicious! Great contrast of colours. Here in the UK fruit in the winter months just doesn't taste that good. I hardly eat any, which is really bad.

This is why I love Simple Pleasures. Fruit in a bowl. It doesn't get any better than that for capturing the essence of this party.
