Trying for Random on Friday

I'll try Nancy's Random Friday meme today, although I have sprinklers at the church and on my own lawn that need to be changed...and a half-painted wooden planter to finish.

Here are my 5 random facts:
1. When I visited a regional stock show yesterday, it hit me that it has been almost 60 years since I was showing sheep similar to this one in this same show.  This lamb was  in the shade, with a damp towel keeping him cool on the fitting stand while he waited for his owner. She was busy showing her Hereford and Angus steers. I remember!
2. Volunteering in my community has added considerable stress with deadlines to my life.  I get the grant-writing, follow-up reports, and now a Chamber of Commerce newsletter to produce.
3. I love reading but haven't touched a book in two months.  That doesn't stop me from buying more, though.
4. Regular exercise hasn't affected the thickness around my waist and belly that seemed to appear overnight after my 70th birthday in late December.
5. I don't really like being 70, but there's nothing I can do about it.

You can join in HERE.

I would not have known that was a sheep if you'd not said, I'm 63 and now noticing, I just eat too much and don't move enough, that must change.

It is harder for me to get into books during the summer. Too many things going on!

I like being older. And wiser. The physical changes are a little depressing, but I try not to look in the mirror too often. I've seen pics of you on fb and I think you look great!

Shoot, I'm only 54 and some days I don't like it one little bit! I hope I'm as active as you are when I get to 70! :)

I just try to keep remembering, that growing older is a blessing -- the alternative not so much. xo

well, the alternative to not being 70 is probably not all that fun ;p

I think its marvelous that you volunteer - you may not see it often to remind you, but you are role modeling for all the younger generations in the community, and that is a HUGE thing - so thank you for doing all you do - it is important work!

I got that spare tire just above my waist after I turned 70. It is not what I am doing.. I think it comes with the territory. At least that is what I am telling myself.

Look at the bright side, you'll only be 70 for a year. :) Then you'll be over it. I was trying to figure out what kind of animal that is, looked too big for a sheep. Isn't that the truth about books? We can't read them as fast as we can acquire them!
