This great handmade toolbox was a hand-me-down from a very old friend in our church several years ago. Now that I'm working with the Be Still_52 course, I'm amassing quite a collection of props; the toolbox is one of those.  Joining with Kim's Texture Tuesday.

Back in Blog Land

Ten days away from my computer and my blogs....but not from my camera.  I recorded more than 800 digital images on our trip to Brooklyn and NYC...and to Portland, Oregon before and after the NY trip.    I've chosen this dogwood image from Brooklyn Botanic Garden for Texture Tuesday with an application of three layers of  Kim's "Retreat."

Day Two -- Christmas Textures

This is a challenge that I'm going to love!  Kim Klassen has gifted her second of twelve textures with beautiful "Annabelle."    I've used it on an image of a vintage glass bottle I bought on Etsy from my online friend, Lynn Stevens, and I've added a Nelly Nero action.

I did not write my recipe here, but I know that I used two layers of "Lilly,"  as the first and last layers.

It's already one-quarter of the way into the year, and I've been able to keep up with the P52 Challenge posed by Darcy.   I'm especially pleased with this image because it's a look I've been working to achieve since I first signed up for Kim Klassen's 'skinny-mini e-course.'    I wanted to create a pale, dreamy image with one of my own photos.   It wasn't long ago that I wouldn't have considered photographing these dead weeds along a country road, but this week, they 'spoke' to me.  So does the quotation that I found on the internet.

More tulips and more textures

Just trying to work with some of the new textures in Kim Klassen's "The Studio Collection."  I'm still feeling my way around PSE, layers, hue/saturation, textures and some kind of erasing.

These tulips were processed with Cloudy Day, Scratched Magic, and Plaster 2, with some hue/saturation adjustments.

Something other than the 'aged' look

I decided it was time for some color...something other than the dark look of my recent posts.  Why not tulips?  I've applied some of the new textures from Kim Klassen's new Studio Collection.

Just because I like it!

Driving a 'loop' of a country road on my way home from an appointment, I stopped several times, jumped out of the car and photographed some late-winter-early-spring wintry scenes.  I then processed this particular photo with only adjustment layers, per Kim Klassen's instructions. (I learned about layers and textures in her skinny-mini course, and am following her instruction in The Test Kitchen.)

Creative Exchange

"A camera in one hand, your heart in the other."  That's the theme of Lisa Gordon's "The Creative Exchange" meme.  Her photos are simply wonderful.

It's still late winter here, but I had my husband take me for a drive on some country roads yesterday so I could find something to photograph.   The snow has melted, but more might be on the way.   I do love the look of  plants that are still standing in February.  Now and then, there are pretty shapes, too---ones that work well for Valentine's Day.

It's week 7 of Darcy's P52 Challenge.  I have NO idea how so many people do a 365 project!  When I began this, I decided that I wanted to include photos that are meaningful in some way; I'm not sure I can carry through with that goal for 52 weeks, though.    This week's photo is obvious because it's related to Valentine's Day.  My Valentine and I will soon celebrate our 33rd year of marriage.

It's obvious that I'm still up to my eyebrows in textures.  I wonder if I'll ever use a shot that's SOOC again.

My new obsession: textures

At one time, I was certain I would never learn how to use PhotoShop Elements, although I own three versions.   A mini-course with Kim Klassen and continuing with her Test Kitchen workshop have 'empowered' me; now I try to play with layers and textures whenever I can.    There is still so much to learn.    This photo was inspired by someone who applied textures to a graphic image.  My image came from a magazine: it started as a mass of bright pink roses.  I scanned the image and then worked with some of the things I've learned.   The texture is Kim's "Sweet Treat."   As I said before, I have so much to learn.
