Week #41 - P52

I have looked everywhere in this area for tiny white pumpkins, which were in abundance last year but nowhere to be found this fall.  I did find these "tiger striped" ones, which I paired with persimmons for this FALL image. (It involved standing on a chair .  :-)  )

Orange (with some yellow) is the New Black

Wow!  Orange was everywhere out north this year!  Aspens that have always been yellow were bright orange. I had never seen them that color before.  These photos were taken on private land and land within the Umatilla National Forest.

Three Directions from Home

There is a lot of land surrounding the place that I live, and I drive the country roads often. Early fall was beautiful in color, but the cold settled in quickly and we got our first snow right after Halloween.  The following images were taken on two separate drives that I took, one north, one west, and one east. The latter was after the cold had moved in.

Fall on a College Campus

I think college campuses are traditionally prettier than the average location, and fall is especially pretty.  As I've blogged before, I make a trip to Eastern Oregon University's campus each fall to record some of the foliage beauty.

Home

I grew up in a valley 25 miles east of where I have lived for the past 40 years.  It's an easy drive, and I made it this week to do a little photography.  The weather, however, wasn't cooperating.  It was gloomy, foggy and rainy.  The fall colors were impressive, though.

Color on the Campus

College campuses tend to have a wonderful variety of trees and shrubs, so the fall season is generally beautifully colorful.  Eastern Oregon University is the regional university in this corner of Oregon. It is beautifully landscaped with old and new--buildings and plantings.  (My favorite image is the last one, which is the back side of the library. It is soon to be printed on metal.)

Trees in the Fall

I have three tree sites that I photograph every season: a single tree in a farm field about 10 miles south of my home; two large trees on a gravel road a few miles out in the country, the site of an old homestead; and a stand of quaking aspens nearly 20 miles to the north.  Because I live in a rural area, 20 miles isn't really far to go with my camera.  When it's colder, and the leaves are gone, I'll visit them all again.
